Attorney Profile: Henry Veit
Mr. Veit is a founder of Lerner, Veit & Stanaland LLP, and provides client services primarily from the firm’s headquarters in San Francisco. He is a member of the bar in the States of California and Wisconsin. Further, Mr. Veit is also admitted to the bar of the United States Tax Court, United States Claims Court, United States Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and various Federal District Courts.
Mr. Veit has been engaged in the private practice of law in California since 1967. His concentration in the fields of taxation and related matters has led widespread recognition of his expertise in California and the rest of the U.S. In fact, Mr. Veit was in the initial group of attorneys selected to be Certified Specialists in Taxation law in accordance with the rules of the Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of the State of California. He maintained that position for thirty years. In the prior years, Mr. Veit was active as a substitute teacher in taxation at the University of California – Hastings College of Law as well as a member of the CEB’s annual real property taxation program, in which he participated both in the programs and in the planning. He mentored students in the tax and estate planning areas at the request of a local law school.
Currently Mr. Veit is a member of the Real Property Planning Committee for the Continuing Education of the Bar, and is the author of the chapter on the taxation of condemnation proceeds in the CEB publication, “Condemnation Practice in California”, 3rd edition. In addition, Mr. Veit has written book reviews on tax publications and has written for the ALI-ABA organization for its book on real estate taxation.
While in law school, Mr. Veit was a student participant in the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Wisconsin, and he is an active member of the Wisconsin University Foundation.
